Atsuko Maeda (on the right) will take on the role of famed screenwriter Mari Okada (on the left) in the upcoming TV special From Truant to Anime Screenwriter: My Path to Anohana and the Anthem of the Heart to be featured on NHK’s BS Premium Channel on September 1 this year running for 1.5 hours.
This special will be dealing in the screenwriter’s autobiography of the same name, detailing her struggles as a person. It covers her shut-in days in high school to her strained relationship with her mother as well as her path to becoming the famed screenwriter that she is now. The book was published in Japan in 2017 and got translated and then released this month. You can by the book at around 7$ for e-form at the Amazon Kindle store.
As for her list of famed works, of which I am not a fan on most of them. Some of them are AnoHana, Hanasaku Iroha, Kiznaiver, Pet Girl of Sakurasou, GoSick all of which is I find, divisive, but well recognised by many fans. The only work that I enjoy from her is the Iron-Blooded Orphans, which fits well on how she deals with character interactions and emotions.
In any case, I hope a kind soul would get this translated. While I bought the book, I don’t have the enthusiasm to read it right now. I’ll get back to it when I get in the mood.
